Nappa was a Saiyan Elite and Captain of the Saiyan army making him a powerful opponent. He travelled with Vegeta around the galaxies until they decided to go after the Dragonballs to wish for immortality. They stopped at Planet Arlia where the planet was in trouble; some evil bug thing was making all the other Arlians fight his warriors. Vegeta and Nappa had to fight them and easily destroyed them. Then they were faced with a huge monster that Nappa tackled with while Vegeta dealt with the king. Nappa pulled off one of its fingers, and then he destroyed it, freeing Arlia. Nappa and Vegeta promptly left the planet and, once from a safe distance, Vegeta destroyed it. Then they finished their journey to Earth and upon landing in a busy city Nappa decided to destroy it for fun. Vegeta wasn't best pleased as Nappa could have destroyed a Dragonball. They then headed towards the highest power level on the planet, which was the Earth Special Forces: Piccolo, Yamcha, Tien, Chiaotzu, Gohan and Krillin. Nappa and Vegeta decided to let their Saibamen fight them first. The Special Forces managed to beat them but in the process they lost Yamcha. Nappa was ready for a fight; the Special Forces used their best attacks on Nappa but to no effect. Chiaotzu attempted to kill Nappa by blowing himself and Nappa up. Nappa crushed him into a mountain and when Chiaotzu exploded, Nappa was unharmed.. Tien was enraged and went one on one with Nappa. Tien lost an arm in the battle, and then Nappa killed him. Vegeta then decided to wait for Goku to arrive so they would have a challenge and ordered Nappa to stop. Nappa amused himself by destroying some aeroplanes until they had waited long enough and still Goku had not arrived. Nappa was eager to continue the fight and chose Gohan as his next target. He charged up a huge attack and shot a powerful beam at Gohan. Piccolo jumped in the way of the beam, saving Gohan but sacrificing his own life. Shortly after Goku finally made it to Earth. Nappa tried to beat him but Goku was much stronger then him. Vegeta ordered Nappa to stop. Nappa laughed, Goku was gonna get it now he thought. But what could he do for fun? He decided to charge at Krillin and Gohan. Goku acted and managed to hit Nappa with his new Kaio Ken attack and save Gohan and Krillin. Nappa was severely injured and held out hid hand to Vegeta to help him up. Vegeta took hold and flung Nappa into the air and killed him. Oh, how I laughed.
