I guess they picked that name because Mr Satan is supposedly meant to be really strong, although his power is nothing compared to the other Z Fighters. Although in some ways you could say this name is strange. If you think about it, in the original he is called Mr Satan, as a reference to the devil, but in the dub he is called Hercule as in Hercules who, in Greek mythology, is the son of Zeus, the God of the sky and ruler of all the Olympian Gods. From Devil to God.</div> <bR> <div> Anyway, I'm calling him Mr Satan, because that's the name I've always known him by. Man, the painters are gonna have to work like crazy in the Great Saiyaman Saga, seeing as everywhere plastered around Satan City is the word "Satan". </div> <bR> <div> Mr Satan first appears in the Cell Games Saga, after hearing about the Cell Games tournament. He is sure he will beat Cell, and goes on TV to show off his "Strength". (He also has a daughter, Videl, who we see later in the Great Saiyaman Saga) When the Cell Games tournamnet day arrives he goes with some reporters, and two of his pupils. The reporters are sure that Mr Satan will beat Cell and save the Earth. They aren't to impressed when the other Z Fighters show up. They decide to let Mr Satan's pupils fight first, who get thrown out of the ring instantly. Mr Satan then tries his luck in the ring. He punches and kicks Cell, but Cell doesn't even bother to counter them, they do no damage at all. Cell then knocks Mr Satan out of the ring, so he loses. They all watch Goku fight Cell next. Throughout the match Mr Satan says that their flying abilities and Ki techniques are all tricks. Cell and Goku are both very evenly matched, even when Cell uses Kamehameha, Tein's multiform, Special Beam Cannon and Kienzan. Then Cell gets bored with the constraints of the tiny ring, so blows it up. Goku and Cell fight some more. Goku fires a hige Kamehameha right at Cell and he blows up. Mr Satan hides alot and doesn't do anything heplful, until Android 16's head talks to him. He tells Mr Satan to throw his head over to Cell and Gohan. At first Mr Satan refuses, but 16 says that he is supposed to be a great hero, so Mr Satan agrees. He throws the head. Then Mr Satan hides again. Once the battle is over and the dust has cleared all the Z Fighters have gone. The TV reporter guy asks Mr Satan what happened. He says that he defeated Cell single handedly, when the reporter asks about the other fighters he says that they thanked him and went home. Mr Satan then goes on lots of parades and everyone praises him and thank him for saving them all from Cell. Everyone loves Mr Satan from here on, apart from the Z Fighters. Seven years pass and he enters the World Tournament that Goku and the others are taking part in. As he is the world champion he is automatically in the final 20 and is scheduled to fight #18. After a couple of the fights most of the competitors (Goku etc) fly off leaving just him, #18, Mighty Mask, Killer and Jewel. With the others left behind, Mr Satan suggests that they remaining fighters have a free-for-all fight. 18 and Mighty Mask quickly beat Killer and Jewel leaving just them two and Mr Satan. Then 18 fights Mighty Mask, who are soon revealed as Goten and Trunks in disguise. She beats them and is left with just Mr Satan to beat. 18 makes a deal with Mr Satan and says she'll lose if he pays her 20 million zeni. He agrees, so 18 loses on purpose. During the award ceremony Goku, Vegeta, Gohan and Shin re-appear. Mr Satan freaks out as he recognises them as the people for the Cell Games. Vegeta kills alot of the crowd and challenges Goku. Goku agrees to the fight and they disappear again. Mr Satan then decides that he will learn to fly, and fails miserably. He then gets talked into defeating Buu. He finds him and eventually convinces Buu to not kill anymore. Buu finds an injured puppy and heals it. Buu plays with the puppy while Mr Satan says he's going to go get some dog food. He runs off and gets ready to blow up Buu's house as he packed it with explosives earlier. But he sees that Buu and the puppy are so happy he changes his mind and actually does go and get some food.
