He was sent to Earth from planet Vegeta as a baby so when he grew up he could wipe out all the inhabitants on the planet, however an old man called Gohan found Kakkarot. Gohan adopted the Saiya-jin, and called him Goku. He bashed his head when he was very young and forgot his mission. He grew up and became best friends with Krillin; they both trained and learnt their fighting skills with Master Roshi. He later married Chichi and they had a son named Gohan. Years past and Goku was reunited with Krillin, Bulma and Master Roshi at a reunion on Master Roshi's island. Goku took Gohan with him. During the reunion, Raditz arrived. Goku learnt that he was not an Earthling but a Saiyan and Raditz was his older brother. Goku refused to join Raditz and take over planets, so Raditz took Gohan and told Goku he had to kill one hundred Earthlings if he wanted to see Gohan again. Goku was joined by Piccolo and they chased after Raditz to rescue Gohan and save Earth. An intense battle followed and it seemed even with the combined strength of Goku and Piccolo nothing could stop Raditz. Goku managed to grab Raditz's tail, paralysing him. Goku held tight while Piccolo charged his Special Beam Cannon attack. Raditz pleaded with Goku, saying he would leave Earth and never come back if they let him go. Goku, being the too-trusting guy he is, believed his brother and let go of his tail. Raditz started to beat the shit out of Goku. Gohan went mad and head butted Raditz in the chest. Raditz was going to kill Gohan, he knew that he would grow up strong and would pose a threat. Goku managed to grab Raditz and hold him back. Raditz couldn't get free, giving Piccolo time to recharge his attack. Goku knew that he would also die from the attack but it was the only way to stop Raditz. Piccolo fired his Special Beam Cannon and it hit its target. Raditz and Goku collapsed on the floor. Piccolo gloated how Goku would be restored to life by the power of the Dragonballs. Raditz then explained how his scouter was also a communicator and that two, much more powerful, Saiyans would reach Earth in one year. Piccolo finished off Raditz as Krillin, Bulma and Master Roshi arrived. Goku explained what was going to happen to his friends and then died. He was transported to King Yema's check-in station in Heaven where Kami, the guardian of Earth, explained Earth's situation and pleaded with King Yema to allow Goku to see King Kai to receive special training in preparation for the arrival of the two Saiyans. King Yema agreed and Goku spent the next six or so months travelling along Snake Way, which led to King Kai's place. Along the way he fell off Snake Way into the Home For Infinite Losers. Goku persuaded the two guys in charge to show him the secret pathway back to Snake Way and continued on to King Kai's. He got a little sidetracked when he came across a building that he thought was King Kai's. But it turned out it was Princess Snake's and she had the intention of eating Goku. He quickly got out of there and eventually reached King Kai's. The place was a very small planet with gravity ten times heavier then Earths. His training began, his first test was to catch King Kai's pet ape named Bubbles. This took Goku three months. His next task was to hit Gregory, a fast little insect, on the head with a hammer. Once he had completed those tasks he received training from King Kai himself and learnt some new techniques like the Kaio-Ken attack. Goku was wished back to life by Krillin, but Goku was to arrive on Earth a day or so after the two Saiyans. When Goku made it to the battlefield be first had to battle with Nappa for a short while until Vegeta ordered Nappa to stop, as it was obvious Nappa could never win. Nappa charged at Krillin and Gohan, Goku had to act fast to save his best friend and son and used his new Kaio-Ken technique on Nappa. Nappa was badly injured so Vegeta killed him. Goku told Krillin and Gohan to go, leaving just Goku and Vegeta. Vegeta offered that he joined him, they could control the galaxies and Goku could have whatever he wanted. Goku refused Vegeta's offer. It was then the epic battle began. Goku and Vegeta seemed like an even match. Goku tried his new Kaio-Ken attack but it did not work, Vegeta had encountered attacks like that before. Vegeta was getting frustrated so decided to settle with blowing up the entire planet with his destructive Gallet Gun attack. However Goku managed to counter it and sent Vegeta high up into the atmosphere. That didn't stop Vegeta as he soon escaped the beam and was pretty mad to say the least. Vegeta told Goku about his father. Goku's father was an average fighter  who created a device that perfectly simulated the light of a full moon. Vegeta used this device and transformed into his Oozaru form. Goku used Tien's Solar Flare trick to temporarily blind Vegeta. Goku used this time to charge up a Spirit Bomb. However, Vegeta recovered and attack before Goku use it. Goku had no strength left to defend himself, Krillin and Gohan came to his aid, but it was Yajirobe who cut off Vegeta's tail. Vegeta transformed back into his original form. Goku gave Krillin the Spirit Bomb energy to use against Vegeta. Krillin threw it at Vegeta but he dodged it, the attack was now heading straight for Gohan. Gohan was able to bounce it back as the Spirit Bomb won't harm those with a good soul and no evil. It hit Vegeta and he was badly injured and could fight no more so he crawled to his Saiyan pod. Krillin grabbed Yajirobe's sword with the intention of killing Vegeta. Goku showed some compassion and asked Krillin to spare Vegeta's life. Vegeta left Earth. Goku, Krillin and Gohan were taken to hospital. Krillin and Gohan had only minor injuries in comparison to Goku and recovered before him. Bulma, Krillin and Gohan left Earth heading for Planet Namek, where a second set of Dragonballs existed. They could then wish Yamcha, Tien, Chiaotzu and Piccolo back to life. Goku continued to heal slowly until Korin dropped by with a bag of Sensu Beans. After eating one, Goku recovered his health and strength, called his Flying Nimbus and headed for Bulma's fathers place. Dr. Briefs, Bulma's father, had been building Goku a spaceship from his brother's Saiyan pod. Goku left Earth heading also for Planet Namek after hearing that Vegeta and a much stronger force were also there. Goku trained in the spaceship under gravities as high as one hundred times heavier then Earth's normal gravity. When he arrived he found Gohan, Krillin and Vegeta had teamed up and were in bad shape fighting the Ginyu Force. Goku gave them each a Sensu Bean and took over from the fighting. Racoome was the first to challenge Goku; Racoome very quickly lost the battle. Burter and Jiece tried their best to attack Goku but he was so fast you couldn't see him move. Goku quickly took out Burter, but let Jiece go much to Vegeta's annoyance. Vegeta killed the already injured Burter and Racoome. Goku could not understand how Vegeta could be so ruthless. Jiece returned with Captain Ginyu. Krillin and Gohan left to find Dende, leaving Goku and Vegeta to deal with the two remaining Ginyu Force members. Goku asked Vegeta for his help, he led him to believe he would but he quickly flew off laughing. Captain Ginyu challenged Goku and it was a pretty even match even though Goku was stronger he lacked the killing instinct. Captain Ginyu had a plan. He severely injured himself and then in Goku's confusion he performed his Body Swap attack. He was transported into Goku's body and Goku was transported into Captain Ginyu's injured body. Captain Ginyu and Jiece left Goku. He struggled to follow them and eventually caught up with them to find Krillin, Gohan and Vegeta fighting Captain Ginyu and Jiece. Vegeta killed Jiece and was battling Captain Ginyu. Gohan was shocked to see his dad in the body of a monster. Goku was pretty much powerless to do anything because Captain Ginyu's body was so injured, although Vegeta seemed to be doing fine on his own. Goku realised Captain Ginyu was intending on swapping bodies with Vegeta. Goku thwarted his plan by getting in the way of the beam, saing Vegeta from the body swap and restoring Goku and Captain Ginyu to their original bodies. Goku was still weak, as Vegeta had beaten up his body. Vegeta continued to fight Captain Ginyu and he tried to swap bodies again. Goku, using his last ounce of strength chucked a frog in the path of the beam. Captain Ginyu was now in the body of the frog and not a problem anymore. Vegeta then took Goku, Krillin and Gohan back to Frieza's ship. Goku was placed in the rejuvenation tank where he heals. Throughout the battle against Frieza and the others, Goku senses the powers of them all increasing and decreasing. He soon is healed and heads to the battlefield. When he arrives he finds Gohan, Krillin and Piccolo are safe but Vegeta has taken a beating. Goku manages to hit Frieza and dodge all his attacks. Frieza shoots Vegeta, and kills him. Before Vegeta dies he explains to Goku that Frieza destroyed their planet and the whole Saiya-jin race, and how he was taken by Frieza from his father and made into what he is today. He pleads with Goku to kill Frieza. Goku buries Vegeta and takes on Frieza. Goku eventually decides to form a Spirit Bomb after his Kaio-ken attack has no effect. With help from Piccolo, Krillin and Gohan he launches the huge Spirit Bomb and think they have killed Frieza. Frieza shoots Piccolo and kills Krillin. Angered by his best friend's death he transforms Goku achieves Super Saiya-jin level. Goku fights Frieza and eventually Frieza atempts to blow up the whole planet. This attempt fails but it does leave Goku with only five minutes of air left. Goku over hears King Kai's telepathic communication with Guru. He hears that he wants them to wish everyone on the planet apart from Frieza to be transported to Earth. Goku asks King Kai to leave him behind too. King Kai agrees and the wish is made. Vegeta catches up with Goku and Frieza and tries to attack Frieza but is transported before he gets the chance. Goku continues to fight Frieza until he feels Frieza is no longer a challenge to him, he declares the fight over and attempts to leave. Frieza attacks Goku which enrages Goku and he transforms back into Super Saiya-jin. Despite Goku's warnings, Frieza is sliced in half by one of his own attacks. Goku decides to leave Frieza, but he pleads with Goku to help him. Goku points out that many people must have pleaded at Frieza's feet but you killed them anyway. However Goku does lend some of his energy to Frieza so that he can escape the Planet. Goku flies off and heads for the ship. Frieza attempts to kill Goku again, Goku has had enough of Frieza and kills him. Goku then sets about heading towards Frieza's ship, as it is closer then his. He reaches the ship and frantcially tries to make it work, it falls into the lava. Luckily Goku escapes the lava. But the Planet Namek explodes while he is still on it. He stays somewhere for a while. He eventually arrives back on Earth and is greeted by Yamcha, Bulma, Vegeta, Gohan, Krillin, Tien, Piccolo, Chiaotzu and a mysterious stranger who we know is Trunks. He is confused as to how they knew he'd be arriving here. They explain to Goku that Trunks killed Frieza and King Cold with ease. Trunks tells Goku he wants to talk to him in private. Goku goes with Trunks a distance away from the others. Trunks asks Goku to show him his Super Saiya-jin technique, he agrees. Trunks then goes Super Saiya-jin himself. Trunks goes to attack Goku but he was only bluffing, Goku knew this so didn't budge or dodge the attack. Trunks was testing Goku's trust. He asks Goku that he must keep the secret he is going to tell him. He explains that he is from the future and is Vegeta's son. Goku is suprised to learn that Vegeta will become a father. Trunks then explains that in three years time the Androids will attack and all the Earth's Special Forces will be killed in the battle. He then tells Goku that he will not see the battle as he dies of a heart disease before the battle takes place. Trunks gives Goku an antidote that will cure him when the disease hits. Goku then wonders whether he knows Trunks' mother, Trunks tells him that it is Bulma. Goku is so suprised he falls over. Trunks leaves in his time machine. Goku then is confronted by the others. However Piccolo has heard the whole conversation between him and Trunks. Goku doesn't want to tell the others what was said, so Piccolo tells him he will tell them. He does say he won't mention about Vegeta and Bulma. Piccolo explains to then about the Androids and they all decide to train. Goku explains where he had been all this time. He says how he escaped Namek and crashed on a planet called Yadrat. He then shows them a new move he has called Instant Transmission. Bulma suggests that they get the Dragonballs and ask Shenron where Dr Gero is now, so they can kill him before he makes the Androids. But Vegeta says they won't have time and Goku thinks that it would be unfair because Gero hasn't done anything wrong yet. They all decide to not do that and Bulma gets angry. Goku asks Piccolo to train with him and Gohan and Vegeta tells Goku that once the fight is over they will settle their score. Before they fly off Goku tells Bulma to have a healthy baby. ChiChi goes mad and won't let Gohan train. Goku pats her on the shoulder and sends her flying through the wall. She eventually agrees to let Gohan train, providing he studies aswell. They train and after a while ChiChi goes mad, again, and tells Goku and Piccolo to get their drivers license. They go to driving school and Goku is a really crud driver and fails his test, as does Piccolo. The three years pass and they fly off to meet the others. Bulma has brought her son wit hher and they think that it is Yamcha's, but Goku says that he is Vegeta's son, Trunks. They are confused as to how Goku knew. Yajirobe gives them some Senzu beans and flies off. Everyone turns up except for Chiaotzu who isn't really strong enough and Vegeta. The others can't sense the Androids Ki and realise that they don't have any. Goku gives Bulma the Senzu Beans to look after. Yajirobe's plane gets shot down, so the others all go to find the Androids. Goku senses a dieing power and finds that #20 has killed Yamcha. Goku tells Krillin to take Yamcha to Bulma because she has the Senzu Beans. Goku says that ppl might get hurt if they fight here, so #20 gets rid of that problem - by killing them now. Goku gets angry and leads them to some where else to fight. #20 gets impatient and picks for them. He then explains how he knows their names. Dr Gero, their creator, has been observing Goku since his fight with Tien at the World Martial arts Tournament. But not when Goku was in space, and Dr Gero has also died. Goku then transforms into a Super Saiya-jin and fights #19. He starts off quite well but the heart virus starts attacking and he can't fight anymore. #19 beats him up and starts absorbing all his energy. Vegeta steps in and kicks #19 away. He then kicks Goku out the way. Goku falls unconcious, Yamcha flies him back home to get the antidote. The heart disease cause a lot of pain. He has a nightmare about #19 and #20 being stronger than him. Yamcha gives him more medicine. After a while it looks like the medicine is starting to take effect. Goku has another nightmare where #17 and #18 attack Gohan and Krillin and stab Trunks with his own sword and then attack him. Goku gets moved to Kame House. He eventually wakes up. He says he has heard all that's going on. He then says he is going to train, so he can reach a new level beyond Super Saiya-jin like he heard Vegeta talking about. He uses his Instant Transmission to teleport to Gohan. Goku appears in the ship and tells them he is going to take Gohan, Vegeta and Trunks to the Room Spirit and Time (or Hyperbolic Time Chamber as it's called in the dub) and train so they can supass the level of Super Saiya-jin. Goku grabs Gohan and using his Instant Transmission he teleports to where Vegeta and Trunks are. Goku talks to Vegeta and convinces him to come with them to Kami's Lookout. Vegeta and Trunks are the first to enter the room. While this is going on Goku and Gohan wait outside and keep an eye on the battle below. Gohan becomes really upset when Piccolo dies and wants to go fight now, but Goku tells him he has to wait until they have completed the training in the Room of Spirit and Time. They sense that Tien is loosing energy and Goku teleports to them and brings Tien and Piccolo back to Kami's Lookout and gives them a senzu bean each. Then Vegeta and Trunks step out of the Room. Goku and Gohan go in and train. During this time Gohan becomes a Super Saiya-jin. Once their training is complete they leave the room and Goku says that they don't need their second day in the room. Goku and Gohan go back home and rest. When Cell attacks and kills all the military that try and attack him, he has an idea. He goes to see King Kai and asks him where the Nameks are living now. When King Kai finds them Goku uses his Instant Transmission to teleport there. He asks if any of the Nameks want to be the new guardian of Earth. Dende agrees and they go back to Kami's Lookout. Dende recreates the Dragonballs and the Dragon. Now they have two wishes for each time they summon the dragon. When the day of the Cell Games arrives they all go to the tournament. But Mr Satan wants to fight first, so they let him. Of course he gets thrown out of the ring instantly. Goku fights Cell next. Cell and Goku are both very evenly matched, even when Cell uses Kamehameha, Tein's multiform, Special Beam Cannon and Kienzan. Then Cell gets bored with the constraints of the tiny ring, so blows it up. Goku and Cell fight some more. Goku fires a huge Kamehameha right at Cell and he blows up. But Cell regenerates himself. Goku then says that he gives up. Everyone is suprised because Goku never gives up. He then says that someone here is stronger than him, so Cell should fight him instead. Goku goes to Gohan and tells him to fight Cell. Gohan says that he doesn't have enough power to defeat Cell and that Goku is still holding back some of his power. Goku says that isn't true, he was using his full power, the only reason Gohan's thinks he's holding back is because Gohan is comparing his power to Goku's. Gohan confirms this. So Gohan steps up to challenge Cell. They fight but Gohan gets beat up. Goku tells Piccolo that he won't help, because Gohan is still holding back and that he'll be fine. But Gohan still doesn't seem to win. Piccolo realises that although Gohan has the strength he doesn't have the fighting will like Goku. Goku realises what he has done. Cell knows that Gohan is holding back his power and tells Gohan to unleash it. Gohan refuses, he tells Cell that if he taps into that power he will destroy Cell, he warns him not to push him other iwse he will regret it. Cell continues to beat up Gohan to try to get him to unleash his power. Android 16 then grabs Cell, he tells him that he has a bomb inside of him that is powerful enough to kill Cell and that he will detonate it. But the bomb doesn't explode, Krillin shouts that Bulma and Dr Brief deactivated the bomb. Cell then blows up Android 16. Then he creates seven Cell Jr's and tells them to fight Goku, Piccolo, Vegeta, Trunks, Yamcha, Tien and Krillin. The Cell Jr's are really strong and the only ones able to put up any decent defence is Vegeta and Trunks. Cell then tells the Cell Jr's to kill them. Mr Satan throws Android 16's head over to Cell and Gohan. 16 tells Gohan that it is okay to fight for the right cause. Cell then crushes 16's head and kills him. Gohan gets really angry and transforms into Super Saiya-jin 2. Gohan beats the shit out of Cell, and he even spits up Android 18. Cell is even less powerful and becomes Imperfect Cell. Gohan toys with Cell for a while, despite Goku telling Gohan to kill Cell now. Cell then decides that he will explode, the explosion will destroy the whole planet. No one knows what to do, then Goku has an idea. He says goodbye to everyone and uses his Instant Translocation technique to teleport Cell away from Earth. Goku transports Cell to Kaio Planet and apolgises to King Kai. Cell explodes killing Goku, King Kai, Bubbles and Gregory and destroys the whole Planet Kaio. The four of them travel down Snake Way but realise that Cell must still be alive because he would be here with them if he died. Goku talks to Gohan and tells him he has the power to kill Cell. They monitor the battle. Once the battle is won and the others go to Kami's Lookout, Goku speaks to them from Heaven and says that he will stay with King Kai in Heaven. He says that he will be a threat to Earth because all those who've attacked it like Frieza and the Androids have been after him. He says Earth will be better off without him. They agree with Goku. Goku says his goodbyes and tells them all to remember what happens in their lives because when they come to Heaven, he wants to hear about them. Goku then asks King Kai if he has any food because he's hungry. When King Kai says he doesn't, Goku eats the clouds instead. King Kai builds them a house but Goku breaks it. So latre King Kai tells Goku about the four different Kai's watching over the different parts of the galaxy, he is the North Kai and they're going to see the Grand Kai. Goku runs off and then comes back and asks where he lives, King Kai tells him. Goku runs off and comes back and asks how to get there, King Kai says by aeroplane. Goku runs off and comes back and asks where the aeroplane is. King Kai says it's at King Yemma's Check-in Station. Goku runs off and comes back and says he knows a quicker way to get to King Yemma and uses his Instant Translocation to get there.They get in the plane and go, there they meet the West Kai  and another fighter named Pikaan. King Kai and the West Kai argue over who is stronger, Goku or Pikaan. Then the Grand Kai shows up and tells them that Cell is making trouble in Hell. Pikaan and Goku go to sort them out, and with little trouble at all. Later Goku meets the rest of the fighters from the North Quadrant. King Kai explains that they are all training for 10'000 years so that they can have a training lesson from the grand Kai. Then the West, east and South Kai turn up and make fun of King Kai for being dead. They decide to see who is the strongest and propose a tournament. Grand Kai likes this idea, so shows them to the arena. Goku is looking forward to fighting, but East Kai doesn't think he has what it takes and challenges him to a race. First to the pillars wins. East Kai gets on her motor flying bike thing and they race, it's pretty even adn they both pass at the same time. Grand Kai is sitting on the pillar and tells them they both did very well, but the winner is him, because he got there first. The tournaments between the four different quadrants begin. Goku has to fight Caterpi from the South Quadrant, who is like a huge caterpillar. He grabs Goku and tickles him, Goku laughs for ages and then blasts him away sending him into the sky. He lands and is upset for being hurt, he then goes into a cacoon. South Kai says that he will metamorphasise and become even stronger. But seeing as the transformation takes 900 years, Grand Kai says that Goku is the winner. Goku gets to the final round and has to fight Pikkon. The fight is pretty even, but Goku wins. However Grand Kai says that they are both disqualified because they're feet touched the ceiling of the arena. Years pass and Goku tells everyone that he is allowed to come back to Earth for one whole day so he can fight in the World Tournament. He trains and meets up with everyone at the stadium. This is the first time he ever meets Goten. The first tournament is the Junior Division, and Goten and Trunks make it to the final easily. The fight is quite even, but Trunks wins. Next is the main tournament, they all make it to the final 20 by punching a machine that measures their strength. They all hold back their strength, except Vegeta who breaks the machine. Krillin has to fight some big buy, Piccolo has to fight Kaio Shin, Videl has to fight Spopovitch, Goku has to fight Vegeta, 18 has to fight Mr Satan and Gohan has to fight Kibito. Krillin is first to fight and wins easily. Next to fight is Piccolo and Kaio Shin. But when it is their turn to fight, Piccolo forfeits the match. Videl is next to fight against Spopovitch, she gets badly injured, and doesn't even cause any damage to Spopovitch despite how much she was attacking. After Videl's fight with Spopovitch, Kibito is to fight Gohan. Shin tells Goku and the others to not interfer with what is about to happen. Gohan goes to full power and Spopovitch and Yamo step in and steal his energy, and then run off. Shin tells them all about a wizard named Babidi who is trying to resurrect a monster called Majin Buu. Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo and Krillin follow Shin to where Spopovitch and Yamo fly off to. They catch up and hide behind a rock and watch what's going on. Spopovitch and Yamu give Babidi and Dabura the energy they collected and then kill them. Dabura goes to where they are watching, kills Kibito and turns Krillin and Piccolo to stone. He then goes back in the ship with Babidi. Goku, Vegeta, Gohan and Shin follow after them. They reach the first level and PuiPui is the "boss" of it. Goku, Vegeta and Gohan play "rock paper sissors" to see who gets to fight first. Vegeta wins and fights PuiPui and easily wins without even having to turn Supre Saiya-jin. The next level has Yakon who fights Goku. Gokuu easily wins so they go to stage three. Dabura fights Gohan but then leaves during the fight saying they have a new fighter for them to challenge. Shin is confused because he knows that Dabura is the strongest fighter under Babidi's power. Babidi gains control of Vegeta and transports them to the World Tornament. Vegeta kills some people and challenges Goku. Babidi transports them again to a mountain range. Gohan and Shin leave Goku and Vegeta and go after Babidi and Dabura. Goku and Vegeta fight an intense battle and Goku learns that Vegeta let himself be put under Babidi's control. The sense that Buu has been revived and Goku says they should stop and fight him together. Vegeta agrees, and then knocks Goku unconscious. When Goku regains consciousness he realises that Gohan and Vegeta have died. He joins up with Piccolo, Krillin, Goten and Trunks and tells them about the fusion idea. Goku appears at where Bulma and the others are and sees that they've already made a wish with the Dragon Balls. He tells the dragon that they will use the second wish later. He then teleports them all the Lookout where Piccolo, Krillin, Dende, Popo and Goten and Trunks already are. ChiChi and Bulma ask where Gohan and Vegeta are and Goku has to tell them that they have been killed. ChiChi and Videl are devestated by the loss of Gohan and Bulma at the loss of Vegeta. Goku sends Trunks to go get the Dragon Radar which is still at the Capsule Corp and Goku goes to distract Majin Buu and Babidi. When they get back Goku tells them that he wants to teach a fusion technique that he learnt to Goten and Trunks so that they can fight Majin Buu. Goku teachs them the dance for as long as he can but he soon has to return to Heaven. When he appears in Heaven he asks whether Gohan has been checked in yet. King Yemma says that he hasn't so Goku realises that Gohan is still alive. He uses his Instant Translocation and teleports to where Gohan is. He finds him training with a sword. They decide to test how strong the sword really is, so Shin makes a block of Kerr-ching, the hardest metal in the universe. Gohan goes to slice the block and breaks the sword. Out of the sword comes an old Shin (I forgot his name so I'm calling him Old Shin for now ^_^) he tells Gohan that he can release his powers only providing he gets a kiss from a pretty girl in return. Goku asks Gohan if he can get Videl to and Gohan freaks out so Goku decides that he will geet Gohan to ask Bulma when he returns to earth.
